My resume was so ancient and ineffective. I had been applying for jobs accurate to 2 years using that ancient resume. My cousin, also an RN suggested I update my resume as well as one of the huge job search engines. I bought the book “Real Resumes for Nursing Jobs” and I was so excited to start revising my resume. Now, my resume looks professional and after sending it out I received a call for an interview and got the job. Since, I have loaned out the book to friends who also find it helpful. I vastly recommend this book for anyone needing to update to write a resume.

I first bought this book when I was preparing to graduate from nursing school and was looking for my first R.N. job. I found the book to be well organized and had helpful tips in the front section. The tips are honestly basic, no revelations, but as a novice they helped me to focus my thoughts and helped me out a few times when I was having writers block. It also helped me from letting my resume get to cluttered. The best thing about the book but is the examples. All the resumes in the book look professional and like a would expect a polished professional resume to look like. There were examples for specific areas and I relied quite a bit on the resumes that were examples for new graduates and for intensive care units. I likes this book much more thanResumes for Nursing Careers Which I didn’t end up using much at all. I really appreciated that this book focused just on nursing, it helped me with the specifics of my resume. I am export my second copy now as I prepare for grad school since I gave the previous copy to a name else. I recommend this!

I got this book from the library to help me write a resume for my new nursing career. I had plenty of experience not relevant to nursing and was having a hard time changing my resume to fit my new career. This book was oh-so-helpful as it had examples of resumes for new grads as well as career changers. Additionally, it gives examples for a variety of positions from clinical assistant to LPN to nurse anesthetist. It even gives an example of a cirriculum vitae (another form of resume.)
What you won’t find in this book is how to write a resume. If you plot on using this book, you may also want to get a excellent book that gives the how-tos. By this I mean a book that gives the dos/don’ts, useful action verbs, how to target your resume, etc.
Overall, this book was most helpful and is value investing in. You can use it from graduation through the course of your career.

When I got out of nursing school, I had clinical rotations and quite a lot of prior work experience unrelated to nursing. I had no clue about how to show that information on a resume. I really heard about this book through an instructor at my school, and then I found it on Amazon. It is loaded with sample resumes for “beginners” like me, and every resume is shown with the take in letter that the job hunter used. This is the best how-to book resume preparation book for nursing professionals. The best part is that I can use it throughout my career since it contains lots of resumes and take in letters of experienced nursing professionals — which I hope to be one day!
