San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) February 02, 2012

Officially launched in September 2011, CareLinx Inc. announces the addition of Adrienne Sweet as Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Sweet brings nine years experience within the health care industry to CareLinx, including three years in biotechnology sales and two years as CEO of a San Francisco home care agency.

Sherwin Sheik, President & CEO of CareLinx said, We are pleased to add Adrienne while growing our team to match our organizations rapid growth. She has built a solid reputation for her ability to build alliances to create mutually beneficial business relationships. Her experience in a leadership role in home care has provided her with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by families seeking cost-effective, reliable and consistent resources to meet needs of loved ones struggling to care for themselves.

My philosophy is to keep those in need of in-home care at the front of my mind in everything we do at CareLinx. We have a tremendous opportunity to help make quality in-home care more affordable and accessible for many people, while helping them lead happier and healthier lives in the comfort of their own homes, stated Sweet.

Sweet points to her first-hand experience working in health care, I have seen so many families in need of care for a loved one, not knowing where to go for help, or what to look for when hiring someone to work in their home. Many people turn to hiring caregivers privately. While this saves on cost, it often comes with a host of other problems and risks, such as tardiness or missed shifts and lack of proper caregiver background checks. CareLinx, however, helps address many these critical issues by providing families and patients with the tools they need to directly manage caregiver services online in a seamless and cost-effective manner.

In sharing her experience with those seeking in-home caregivers, Sweet advises, Take time to learn about the responsibilities that come with employing a caregiver in the home. Our staff at CareLinx is happy to offer guidance and information, or a social worker specializing in senior services would be a good resource as well.

CareLinxs online needs assessment tool helps families easily find caregivers that match their specific needs on multiple dimensions of compatibility. Once you do find a caregiver who seems to be a good fit, take your time to complete some due diligence. Our platform will help you make a more informed decision by providing tools to easily run a background check to ensure your loved one’s safety by verifying the caregiver’s credentials, criminal history, licenses, education, employment history and references. Then spend time just talking and getting to know them to ensure that their personality and lifestyle preferences are a good fit as well, suggests Sweet.

Sweet holds a BA from Stanford University, and both an MBA and Masters in Public Health in Health Services Administration from UCLA, where she was recipient of the Health Services Administration Alumni Scholarship. She has held previous positions in hospital administration at UCSF Medical Center and as a consultant for Sinaiko Healthcare Consulting. In sales and marketing roles for biotech companies, she worked for Amgen and Biogen Idec, Inc. More recently, she became founder and CEO of a local home care agency.

A native Oregonian, Sweet enjoys living in San Francisco and exploring the city. She spends her leisure time skiing and playing volleyball and tennis. Well-traveled, she has lived abroad in Spain and Italy, and speaks some Spanish and Italian.

Provo, UT (PRWEB) January 19, 2012

The Bureau of Labor Statistics recently updated their most recent set of career data, dating back to November 2011. Results showed that Education and Health Services are currently the top careers in both hiring rates and job security. Each of these industries requires that employees have at least some college education. My Colleges and Careers is an online portal to help individuals find and complete online degrees that will prepare them to work in recession-proof industries such as those listed by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Of the 3.2 million jobs created in November 2011, more than 600,000 of them were in either the education or health sector. At a close second are the 556,000 jobs created in the trade, transportation, and utilities sector. Professional and business services came in at a close third with 517,000. Chances for employment in any one of these areas is directly proportional to the level of education that an individual has. The My Colleges and Careers website is designed to guide individuals towards careers that will both interest them as well as allow them to live a higher-quality lifestyle. By studying online, students can lower costs as well as have more time to work or fulfill other commitments.

My Colleges and Careers is ideal for those looking to find online programs in fields that will give them secure and high-paying employment. For example, website tools can lead users to find colleges that offer online accelerated nursing programs. Additional tools, such as the pages dedicated to describing career and salary information, will guide individuals through the steps of obtaining their online degree and subsequent employment. This includes help for a wide range of careers and fields, even explaining how to become a teacher or a forensic scientist.

The My Colleges and Careers website features interactive tools that make it simple for them to find an online degree program that will fit their needs. As previously mentioned, taking online courses gives students both the time and means to complete their education. Also features on the site is the degree search box. Users will be directed to schools that can provide more information about the degrees they seek. Infographics, career descriptions, news updates, and even a blog provide users with further tools to help them start their education. My Colleges and Careers is built to make the process of finding accredited online schools even easier. There is question that the likelihood of anyone obtaining a career in one of the top industries will be greatly enhanced for those with a higher level of education.

About My Colleges and Careers

My Colleges and Careers is dedicated to helping students and prospective students earn their college degrees through online degree programs. Considering that most students have other responsibilities and commitments, My Colleges and Careers can become a great resource for those seeking a way to fit school into an already busy schedule. Through online programs, students can complete their schooling at their own pace. The tools and services offered on the My Colleges and Careers website have already assisted many students in completing their education and starting a successful career.

Jacksonville, FL (PRWEB) February 01, 2012

Professional Development Resources (http://www.pdresources.org/) has reached a major milestone in its corporate growth: 20 years of continuous operation as an accredited provider of continuing education to psychologists, social workers, counselors, speech-language pathologists, registered dietitians and occupational therapists. In the years since its incorporation in 1992, the company has grown from one person presenting a single live seminar to groups in selected Florida cities to an organization that features over 180 self-study CE courses that are available online anywhere in the world.

Professional Development Resources was incorporated on August 12, 1992 in the State of Florida as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation. Its mission was and continues to be to seek out the most recent scientific and clinical publications in selected professional areas of psychology, mental health, social work, nutrition, speech language pathology, and occupational therapy and to present continuing education topics of current clinical relevance to the named professions for the purpose of improving patient care.

The companys founder, Leo Christie, PhD, is a Florida-licensed marriage and family therapist who was in private practice in Jacksonville, Florida from 1982 to 1992. With the intention of establishing an outlet for his interest in writing and teaching, Christie founded the new company and set out to explore the possibility of planning and delivering live educational seminars. The vice president and director of continuing education was and still is his wife, Dr. Catherine Christie, who is a registered dietitian.

Christie recalls the early years: The first steps were to become credentialed by the professional boards, select and develop a topic, identify target audiences, implement a marketing plan, and arrange funding for a series of delivery sites in the State of Florida a daunting process, to say the least. We set out to secure accreditations from some of the Florida licensing boards so that we could award official CE credit to those who attended our conferences. That process took over 8 months. I remember having some difficulty with the Florida Board of Psychology, and it required a personal appeal and some restructuring before we were eventually recognized as a CE provider. We also sought and received approval to offer CE to nurses, under the auspices of the New York Nurses Association, which was a widely accepted accrediting board at the time. In the early years, nurses represented more than 50% of our seminar attendees.

During the summer and fall of 1993, we completed 12 six-hour seminars in 7 Florida cities. The summer seminars were titled Fears, Phobia, and Panic and dealt with the full spectrum of anxiety disorders. In fall, we introduced a new topic Compulsive Behaviors, which featured a study of obsessive compulsive disorder. As a startup year, 1993 generated enough revenue to make further planning and development possible for the new company.

From there, the company went on to secure provider accreditation credentials from a number of national and state boards, including the American Psychological Association (APA), the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE), the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB), the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (formerly the American Dietetic Association). The speaker circuit grew to the point at which there were four speakers on the road at one time presenting various topics in 46 of the 50 states.

Toledo, Ohio (PRWEB) January 31, 2012

Toledo workers compensation attorney Thomas J. Schaffer said today that the recently published Liberty Mutual Workplace Safety Index demonstrates the continued unnecessary loss of billions of dollars to disabling workplace injuries and illnesses in Ohio, Michigan and across the U.S.

The annual workplace safety survey from Liberty Mutual shows the need for training and awareness in the workplace to help stem our nations burdensome losses to job-related injury and occupational disease, said Schaffer, a partner with the Toledo personal injury firm of Gallon, Takacs, Boissoneault & Schaffer Co., L.P.A., which handles workplace accident cases throughout Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan.

The Liberty Mutual Workplace Safety Index, released in late December, says the top 10 most disabling workplace injuries and illnesses in 2009 accounted for $ 50.1 billion in direct U.S. workers compensation costs.

The Index looks at the cost of providing help to those who have been hurt, which includes costs that are covered through filing workers compensation claims, Schaffer said, but the focus should be on preventing harm to workers.

The top 10 causes of workplace injuries in the Index comprised 89.3 percent of the entire cost of disabling work-related injuries in the U.S. in 2009 (the last year for which data is available).

Out of the 10, the top five workplace injuries accounted for 71.7 percent of 2009s total costs, while the next five accounted for less than 5 percent each.

The top five causes of the most disabling workplace injuries and their costs are:

????Overexertion (such as excessive lifting, pushing, pulling, holding, carrying, throwing) $ 12.75 billion;
????Fall on same level $ 7.94 billion;
????Fall to lower level $ 5.35 billion;
????Bodily reaction (such as bending, climbing, reaching, standing, sitting, slipping or tripping without falling) $ 5.28 billion; and
????Struck by object (such as a tool falling on a worker from above) $ 4.64 billion.

Through proper training, regular audits of workplace safety initiatives and setting and publicizing attainable goals, employers can reduce injuries and cut incidents and costs, Schaffer said.

Schaffers law firm assists injured and ill workers with filing for workers compensation benefits. Those funds can pay for medical expenses and a percentage of an employees weekly wages.

The firms Ohio and Michigan workplace injury attorneys also handle personal injury and wrongful death lawsuits in situations where a workers job-related injury or illness is not covered by the states workers compensation system, such as when the harm is caused by a non-employer third party.

Anyone injured in an on-the-job incident should contact an experienced workers compensation lawyer to help them file and navigate their claim through the system, the veteran attorney said.

A lawyer experienced with workers compensation cases in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan can deal with the forms, data collection and other requirements of the workers compensation system while the injured worker concentrates on their recovery, Schaffer added.
